Before extensive work begins, it helps to establish expectations, references and priorities: which sequences matter most, what the piece should feel like, and any reference material that captures the intended tone. That conversation keeps revisions focused and the schedule realistic.

Designed and selected elements are built with the mix in mind, at the right sample rate, level and channel layout, so they integrate cleanly rather than needing to be rebuilt later.

In the mix they are balanced against dialogue and music. Design that fights the dialogue is design that gets pulled down, so the elements are shaped to leave room for the voices from the start.
