Long Form

Feature Film Audio Post-Production

A feature-film soundtrack must support the story across a much longer dramatic arc. Mix My Spot provides professional audio post-production for independent features, screenings, festivals, theatrical presentation and distribution.

Dialogue, music, effects and environments are shaped to guide attention, support emotion and maintain continuity without calling attention to the mixing process itself.

Sound Mixing for Feature Films

Dialogue leads. Every line has to be intelligible and sit believably in its space, with perspective matching what the camera shows and scene-to-scene continuity holding as the film moves.

Music and effects are balanced against that spine. Across ninety minutes or more, dynamics matter as much as levels: quiet passages need room so louder sequences register, and the film should not arrive at its final act with nowhere left to go.

Backgrounds and environments carry the sense of place between cuts and locations, keeping the world continuous even where the shoot was not.

Stereo and 5.1 Surround Mixing

Stereo serves streaming, online screeners, festival submissions handled in stereo and most digital distribution. A 5.1 mix provides the channel separation commonly required for theatrical presentation and for many festival, broadcast and distributor specifications.

Stereo and 5.1 are the principal formats we deliver. Other formats can be discussed when a specific delivery requirement calls for them.

Dialogue Editing, Cleanup and Restoration

Production dialogue is edited and prepared before the mix: takes selected and matched, boom and lavalier sources reconciled, and backgrounds smoothed so cuts within a scene do not announce themselves.

Noise, hum and other distractions are reduced where it helps the line. Restoration has real limits — some recordings cannot be fully recovered — and we review the material and say what is realistic before committing to an approach.

Sound Design That Supports the Picture

Effects, environments, transitions and selected sonic details are added where the picture needs support: a location that needs to feel larger, a moment that needs weight, a transition that needs to carry the audience forward.

The extent of this work is agreed in advance. Extensive original sound design is a separate scope and is not automatically included in a mixing estimate.

A Straightforward Remote Workflow

Send the picture, the audio turnover and the delivery requirements. MMS reviews the materials and confirms the scope before work begins.

We prepare the first mix, you review and send consolidated, time-coded notes, we complete the agreed revisions, and the approved masters are prepared. You work directly with the mixer throughout.

Masters, Stems and Final Deliverables

Depending on the agreed scope, deliverables may include stereo and 5.1 masters, dialogue, music and effects stems, screening masters, alternate versions and M&E materials.

M&E and additional versions are prepared when separately requested. The deliverable package is confirmed before mixing begins.
